Community

We believe strongly in providing healthy and affordable produce to residents of the Lower East Side (regardless of income) while also supporting environmentally friendly small-scale family farms upstate. Additionally, we aim to be positive members of our community by supporting local organizations whose missions and populations intersect with our own. This is why, after we’ve paid our farmers and purchased whatever minimal supplies we need (such as pens, clipboards, etc), we allocate all remaining funds towards:

– Subsidized shares to offset membership for lower-income community members

– Donated fruit shares for our neighbors who frequent the senior center at the Bowery Residents’ Committee (whose patio we share)

– Membership fees to be part of the Just Food CSA Network

– A donation to our host garden, the M’Finda Kalunga Community Garden
