Frozen produce

Cost: $142
November – March (once per month, for 5 months, 12:30 – 1:30 pm on the following Saturdays: Nov 19, Dec 17, Jan 21, Feb 11, Mar 11)

Jim Hyland at Farm Bridge (formerly known as Winter Sun) partners with local Hudson Valley farms to supply great tasting frozen vegetables and berries throughout the winter. They lay aside produce during the summer harvest, freeze it, and then deliver it straight to us at the garden.

Some examples of the items you may receive in your frozen winter share: summer corn, green beans, blueberries, raspberries, summer squash, broccoli florets, tomato (jarred), and butternut squash puree.

Each delivery consists of seven separately packaged frozen items. Each item consists of either individually quick frozen (IQF) or pureed fruits/vegetables. The IQF process freezes each kernel of corn, each berry, which not only maximizes flavor, but allows you to parcel out what you need (without having to hack off a chunk from a solid block), and put the rest of the package back in the freezer. Farm Bridge freezes at the peak of freshness, often hours after the farmer’s harvest.

More information is available at the Farm Bridge website.
